The Surfers Paradise Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit in Australia attracted some unwanted attention after it was pointed out that its message had sexual overtones.
The noticeboard read: ''Forgiveness is swallowing when you'd rather spit.''
The image has attracted lots of attention on social media, with many people pointing out the inappropriate nature of the words.
But a spokesman for the church has discussed the issue with the Brisbane Times newspaper, explaining that it means ''swallow your words and think before you say anything''.
