Riccardo Tisci is the new chief creative officer at Burberry

Riccardo Tisci is the new chief creative officer at Burberry The Italian has been named the new chief creative officer of the British fashion house By Elle India March 1, 2018 SHARE
Riccardo Tisci has been named successor to the brand’s former long-term chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey. Bailey, who announced his departure in October 2017, showed his final collection at London Fashion Week last month.
Tisci released a statement on his Instagram saying, “I am honored and delighted to be joining Burberry as its new chief creative officer and reuniting with Marco Gobbetti. I have an enormous respect for Burberry’s British heritage and global appeal and I am excited about the potential of this exceptional brand.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Gobbetti, Burberry’s current CEO, worked with Tisci at Givenchy. Tisci, during his 12-year run at Givenchy, is credited with resurrecting the brand into one of LVMH’s most profitable companies. With sensual runway shows and commercial appeal, Tisci helped introduce a street-wear aesthetic to high fashion.
In a statement, Marco Gobbetti said: “Riccardo’s creative vision will reinforce the ambitions we have for Burberry and position the brand firmly in luxury.” We guess well only find out what Tisci’s Burberry has in store when he shows his first collection this September.
