Not every love story has a happy ending. While a few people get lucky and find their forever-after person the first time around, there are many who, unfortunately, fail in love and go through a painful break-up (or many) before finding the one. Now, while most of us try our best to let our relationship's failure fly under the radar, when it comes to star couples, it seems like they think otherwise. Usually, it's impossible for celebrity break-ups to really fly under the radar, considering their very public lives, and these have been very public indeed. From Saif-Amrita, Salman-Aishwarya to the 2017's most-talked-about Hrithik-Kangana, we take a look back at the ugliest star splits of all time. Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Salman and Aishwarya's split could be described as the worst of their time. They grew closer to each other on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and soon fell in love. After giving people some major relationship goals, on-screen and off-screen, the couple parted ways for good. If rumours are anything to by, Salman was a possessive partner and Aishwarya didn't appreciate this behaviour. It was also said that he physically assaulted her and got into fights with the people she worked with. They officially broke up in 2002. And the effects of this were far-reaching - remember the press conference Vivek Oberoi called alleging Salman threatened him for dating Aishwarya? That pretty much wiped out Vivek's career. John Abraham and Bipasha Basu
John and Bipasha were dating ever since they carved a niche for themselves in the film industry and they shared the most incredible chemistry. However, rumours of the couple ending their 10-year-old relationship starting making rounds on the internet. Initially, people thought that it was because they had completely opposite opinions about marriage. But, it was later rumoured that both of them were reportedly cheating on each other.
Today, John is happily married to an investment banker Priya, and Bipasha to actor Karan Singh Grover. Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia
Preity and Ness made their relationship official in 2005 and then took it to the next level by becoming business partners three years later. However, their relationship had to end because, apparently, Ness' mother was against the B-town beauty. There were rumours that during a fight Preity even slapped her SO. Post their breakup, it seemed like things were going well and the couple remained friends until 2014, when the actress filed a molestation complaint against the corporate biggie. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone
One of the best-looking couples of B-town, they were all over the news when they were together - remember those airport kisses? A relationship lived very much in the public eye, it was reported that Deepika was madly in love with Ranbir and she even got his initials inked on herself. But news of the Jagga Jasoos actor apparently cheating on Deepika surfaced and the two parted ways. Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan
Bollywood hasn't seen a break-up as bitter or as public as Hrithik and Kangana's since Aishwarya and Salman. They became one of the hottest topics of 2017 as they battled it out in the court of law and the press. The exes called each other names and tried to tarnish each other's image on social media, wrote open letters. Then there were also Kangana's other exes, who used this opportunity to get their 15 minutes of fame.
The funniest part - yes you read it right, 'funniest' - was when, in the first legal notice that Hrithik sent to Kangana, his lawyer mentioned that the actors were never dating each other. In fact, the notice said the actress suffers from Aspergers' Syndrome, which made her imagine the relationship. Yeah, right Mr Lawyer! 159 Shares
