No, you're not being paranoid. Sites really are watching your every move

« Previous - Next » No, you’re not paranoid. Sites really are watching your every move If you have ever felt uncomfortable when browsing the web and typing away, you might not be as paranoid as you thought you were according to a new study. The study revealed that hundreds of websites, including some of the most well-known ones, have scripts that record the keystrokes of those who visit the website, along with the movements of the mouse and how you scroll down the website, all in real time and well before any input is submitted to the site or deleted. Websites Using Logging Software To Record Your Details Third-party analytics services provide session replay scripts that aim to help the operator of the website gain a better understanding as to how the visitor interacts with the properties of the internet and identify pages that may be broken or confusing to those browsing. Just as the name suggests the scripts allow the operator to re-enact browsing sessions and each of the clicks, input and scrolls may then be recorded and played back at a later time. Related Articles We Can’t Stop Watching This Bizarre Donald Trump Ad A recent study that was published just last week suggested that 482 out of the 50,000 websites that were trafficked the most use scripts such as this and there is generally no disclosure given. It is not very easy to detect the websites that use the scripts, and it is thought that the number is high, more so with sites that are outside of the top 50,000 that have been studied. Third Party Replay Scripts Being Used To Collect Sensitive Information Steven Englehardt is a Ph.D. Candidate at Princeton University, and he said that the collection of content from a page that has third-party replay scripts could mean that data that is sensitive, including medical conditions, credit card details and other information that is personal could be leaked to a third party. This could open up the user to exposure to identity theft, online scams and many other forms of behavior that is unwanted. He said that the same could be said for collections of users input as they are registering at sites or checking out. Englehardt installed six scripts that are used widely by services, and he found that all of them had exposed the private moments of visitors to varying degrees. During the account creation process, the scripts were said to have logged partial input that had been typed into various fields. He went on to say that some of the most intrusive scripts had been found to be used by Hotar, Yandex, FullStory, and Smartlook. Englehardt said that by default they had recorded input that had been typed into the name, email address, phone number, social security number, address and date of birth. It was said that even when services masked some of the data, they did it in ways that would jeopardize the privacy of the website visitor. UserReplay and Smartlook, for instance, had collected the character numbers that had been typed into the password field. UserRelay logged the final four digits of the credit card numbers of visitors. Even Websites With Legal Incentives Not To Leak Data Where Doing Just That The services were said to have automatic and manual tools that the operators of the websites could use to redact information that was collected on the properties. Englehardt did say that in many cases the tools did need huge amounts of time and skill from the developer. Even then websites that had legal incentives that were strong which should not leak data of a sensitive nature had been found to do just that. One instance was Walgreens. Com who sent medical conditions along with prescriptions and usernames to FullStory, despite the extensive use of manual redactions that were on the pharmacy site. Other examples included an account page for Bonobos clothing store which leaked details about credit cards to FullStory. Yandex, Smartlook and HotJar make things worse as they have dashboards that have unencrypted HTTP when publishers replay the visitor sessions even when the original ones had been protected by HTTPS. Both Bonobos and Walgreens representatives said that their sites had stopped sharing information with FullStory. At the moment it is not clear how users of the internet can prevent their data from being collected. It was said that ad-blockers might filer some out but not all of the replay scripts. Even when checking the do not track option of some web browsers, the logging could not be stopped. So for the time being if you feel like someone is watching you when you are giving your details on a website, they probably are. Related Articles

Space Dust in the Cosmic Wind May Be the Source of Life on Earth

Google+ Panspermia – the theory that life came to Earth on a comet or asteroid from another world – comes from the Greek words ‘pan’ (all) and ‘sperma’ (seed). That makes sense because the hypothesis suggests that the life form riding bareback on a space rock was microscopic, like the tardigrades which we already know can survive in space and that some panspermians propose may have indeed traveled here from abroad. Now a new theory proposes that not only were the microorganisms tiny, but so were their means of transit — space dust particles. Could it be true that all we are is space dust in the cosmic wind? In a paper published in a recent edition of Astrobiology , Professor Arjun Berera of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh looks at “hypervelocity space dust” – the sneeze-worthy massive cloud of particles that are constantly blowing into our atmosphere and quite possibly blowing right back out again with some passengers from Earth. The escape velocity is achieved by a sort of billiard ball effect of incoming particles slamming around the atmospheric table and knocking others in all directions – down, up and corner pocket. This effect is nothing like the cloud you kick up when blowing the dust off of your tables before your parents visit. Berera and his researchers determined that space dust travels at 70 km a second (156,585.5mph). Assuming that tardigrades or other microorganisms could be carried by conventional winds or the cosmic billiard ball effect to a height of 70 km (43 miles) and that they can hang on to dust particles with their tiny feet or whatever appendages they have, they could be knocked out of the Earth ballpark and catch a ride on a cosmic wind shuttle to another planet, solar system or even a galaxy … assuming they can survive the trip. Based on how well bacteria survives on the outside of the International Space Station, don’t put it past them. If you buy Professor Berera’s idea of hypervelocity space dust bearing gifts of life to Earth billions of years ago, then it’s safe to assume that it’s also happening right now. That big inhalation before blowing out your birthday candles could have started a colony of aliens deep in your lungs. You may not feel older but you may soon feel something worse than any flu congestion you’ve ever coughed up. “The proposition that space dust collisions could propel organisms over enormous distances between planets raises some exciting prospects of how life and the atmospheres of planets originated. The streaming of fast space dust is found throughout planetary systems and could be a common factor in proliferating life.” While Professor Berera buys into this dustpan-spermia theory, there are both scientific and religious doubters. There’s only one way to find out. Get our your microscope, kick up some dust and eliminate everything that doesn’t look familiar. Ancient Russian Dog Sacrifices May Be Origin of Werewolf Myths

Google+ Near the banks of the Samara River, archaeologists have been uncovering evidence of a 5000-year-old civilization called Krasnosamarskoe. While ancient settlements in the Ural mountains and Siberian steppes are nothing new, researchers have been discovering evidence of strange rituals and sacrifices that are unlike anything else found in the region. A new study published in the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology suggests that the people of Krasnosamarskoe developed elaborate ceremonies based on the ritual killing, butchering, and burning of dogs not for food but for something far more mysterious. Canine skull fragments found at the site. According to Hartwick College anthropologist David Anthony who led this research, the people of Krasnosamarskoe likely sacrificed the dogs according to a belief that men could become or embody the souls of dogs and wolves in order to become more powerful warriors. Anthony and his college Dorcas Brown write that this belief is common among early Indo-European mythologies: The dogs and wolves were eaten at Krasnosamarskoe in a clear inversion of normal eating practices, a strong signal of a rite of passage centered on transformation into dogs/wolves, exactly as the warrior is symbolized in Indo-European myths. The fact that male dogs were selected for sacrifice identifies this as a male-centered ritual, and the fact that old, familiar dogs were selected makes it appear that the dogs symbolized cultured, that is human, victims. All of this aligns with the dog-as warrior myth better than the other possibilities. Bones found at the site suggest that the dogs sacrificed originated from far away locations. Archaeologists believe this shows that boys and young men would travel from throughout the region to this site in order to perform this ritual at a specific altar or meeting ground. The sacrifices all took place during the winter when hunting became vital for survival in the unforgiving Siberian landscape. The remains of over 50 dogs have been found at the site. As time passed, cities began to develop making hunting less common and turning warriors into a specialized occupation controlled by the state. Memories of these rituals eventually began to fade, likely merging into the Indo-European cultural consciousness and inspiring many of the werewolf myths which still persist today. As the holidays approach, it makes you wonder: how many of our myths, legends, and ritual practices have their origins in strange, ancient rituals? How many of those were based on sacrifice? The Dumbing Down Of America: New Bill Will Increase Taxes On Graduate Students By 300 Percent

The Dumbing Down Of America: New Bill Will Increase Taxes On Graduate Students By 300 Percent GOP tax bill will see PhD students tax increase by 300%. The new GOP Tax Reform plan is being hailed as one of the most unfair in modern history which various people across American society expressing their outrage at a bill which disproportionately impacts the poorest people in society while benefiting and shielding the richest. One group who has been hardest hit in the bill are graduate students who are set to see their tax contributions increase exponentially and this could be a major problem for the future of the United States. After learning of the plans for graduate students in the new bill two universities, Carnegie Mellon and the University of California Berkeley, conducted analyses to find out exactly how the plans would translate in the real world. They found that PhD students could be taxed almost 300% more than they are currently paying. At the current time, PhD students are afforded an annual stipend which is an equivalent to a salary in return for conducting research work in the university. These stipends tend to be incredibly paltry and are often not enough for the students to live on meaning that they are forced to supplement their income with other jobs or, for the luckiest students, family money. At this time, the stipend is charged as taxable income, but the tuition fees that students must pay to the university is not. The GOP Tax Reform bill plans to change this meaning that tuition fees will now be classified as taxable income despite the fact that money is not used in a direct way by the students. The tuition costs for PhD courses tend to be incredibly high, especially at the top-flight universities. This means that students who are currently attempting to live on a $30,000 stipend will find themselves paying taxable income on amounts which could be as much as £80,000. This will result in an annual tax debt of approximately £10,000. Naturally, this is beyond the reach of the vast majority of graduate students. In the short term, it has been warned that this policy will put off prospective PhD candidates from pursuing their academic ambitions and some current PhD students may well be forced to abandon their work because of financial constraints. This may cause serious aftershocks in American society as there will be less STEM researchers in this generation which means that the entire future of America’s technological, scientific and medical research industries could be in jeopardy. Russia Reveals Antarctica Is Not What We're Being Told

Russia Reveals Antarctica Is Not What We’re Being Told Antarctica is not what people thought according to Russia. Apparently, the governments of the USA and Russia have been keeping what Antarctica really is top secret as both countries have known what is really going on but they have never spoken out until now. Hidden Continent Underneath Ice Of Antarctica Russia recently revealed that there is another continent hidden under the ice in Antarctica and many people think that this is where an ancient civilization that fell lies. This is what has been said to be what has attracted the interest of some of the great leaders. Now Antarctica has a ban and people are wondering why the governments chose to keep what is an important discovery top secret. Related Articles Reports: All cities in Sweden told to brace for war with Russia Russian scientists then found hundreds of lakes underneath the ice of Antarctica, and these are not frozen as you would have thought, but they contain fresh water that has been isolated away for more than 10 million years. The scientists drilled down through the ice and reached the biggest of the lakes, and this is said to have taken them ten years. An elevator has now been installed in the hole, and it took a team of 8 underneath the ice of Antarctica and revealed the lakes that were hidden. Scientists From Russia Found A Deadly Creature Called Organism 46b Russian scientists were in Antarctica and they had been baffled when they came across a created that they termed Organism 46b. The creature is said to be extremely dangerous due to the fact that it paralyzes the prey it catches with venom and then tears it into pieces at leisure. The creature has proven theories that there are monsters lurking underneath the ocean and ice. When the Russian scientists were researching the region they came across the frightening creature which they called Organism 46b. The scientists said that the creature is a lot like a big octopus and it has 14 arms. The creature is able to paralyze people thanks to it having strong venom and it can do this at more than 150 feet away. It has been reported that one of the members of the crew from Russia had been killed by the creature. Scientists took the creature to study it, and they say that it seems to be a cross between the Mimic Octopus, which is found in the Indo-Pacific and Organism 46b. The creature is said to have the camouflage powers of the octopus, but it can take mimicry even further. One crew member said that they saw the creature change its form to that of a human diver and with this ability, there is no wonder that it has been kept a secret. The witness to this was said to have been killed by the creature as it fooled him into thinking that it was just one of the crew members. This led to the crew capturing the creature and putting it into a tank. They used a woman who had incredible abilities and techniques for defending herself. The Russian scientists said that they took the creature so that they could look into the capabilities of it along with the venom. At the moment what else might be hiding away underneath the ice in Antarctica is still a secret. Related Articles

5 Ways to Recover from Being Stuck — Guest: Lisa Gail Green

November 21, 2017 5 Ways to Recover from Being Stuck — Guest: Lisa Gail Green Sometime during our writing career, we’re bound to feel stuck. Maybe our story isn’t going the way we thought (or the way we’d like it to go), or maybe our career isn’t progressing the way we want (or the way we expected). Either way, we don’t want that feeling of being stuck, blocked, or hemmed in by a dead end lead to a decision to give up . As I wrote about last month, giving up is the only way we truly fail. Everything else comes down to perseverance , to doing the best we can given the circumstances. Yet just like for our characters, it’s not easy to not give up sometimes. So we want to have as many tools in our emotional toolbox as possible to help us recover when we’re feeling stuck. To that end, I’m excited to welcome Lisa Gail Green here today. We’ve known each other on Twitter for years and have followed each other’s writing journeys. Her second-time-around debut even happened on the same day as my debut. *grin* But as she discovered, our writing career won’t always follow the path we’d expect. So she’s here today to share her top five lessons on how to recover when we think we’ve reached a dead end. Please welcome Lisa Gail Green! *smile* Five Ways to Recharge Your Writing Life by Lisa Gail Green I’m grateful to Jami for a chance to join you today to talk a little about my journey from traditional to self-published author and some of the pitfalls and roadblocks that have caused me to change course in unexpected ways. But this isn’t really about me — it’s about helping others know how to handle unexpected situations without making the same mistakes I did . New Project? We Dive In with Lots of Energy… I’ve been doing this now (and by ‘this’ I mean writing as a career) for close to ten years. Of course, like many of you, I’ve been writing far longer than that and meant to commit much sooner before life got in the way. I started off like a sprinter. I treated it like a full time job, first finishing an entire novel (which will never see the light of day if I have anything to say about it) and researching online the business side of writing. As soon as I proved to myself that I could actually write a whole book, it was like the floodgates opened. Out poured novel after novel. I was obsessed, and I guess I was catching up on all those years of stifled creativity. We Might Even Find Success… On the flip side, I soaked up everything I could find, joining SCBWI since I was focused on children’s writing at the time, and taking advantage of every resource available. I connected with others, I learned all the “rules” and made plenty of silly mistakes like querying before I was ready. I went to workshops and conferences, read a million blogs (and started my own), and basically over the first two years, got what I consider the equivalent of a self-taught Masters in publishing . It was like a high. I not only loved the intensely creative process, but the unexpected pluses like making close friends along the way and discovering the overwhelmingly positive and supportive community that is out there for those who are serious about writing. I had a successful blog on writing, eventually becoming part of one of the top YA blogs for writing ( AYAP ), had a well-respected agent, and continued to be prolific in my writing. Then Something Happens… Then things happened, and I dropped off the face of the Internet, which is tantamount to the Upside Down if you watch Stranger Things . What happened? I became pregnant with my third child (nine years after my last), split with my agent, was eventually diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis after being mistakenly diagnosed and having allergic reactions to medication, and suffered from a corresponding depression. The meds I took for the RA crashed my immune system and also led to two bouts of pneumonia, cellulitis, and a several day stay in the hospital for asthma related issues. I had to step away from the blog and had no energy to write . The Rollercoaster Starts Again… When I was about to quit, I got the “call” and was offered a publishing contract and signed with a new agent all at once. I was on top of the world again. I published a trilogy with an amazing editor. My new agent was enthusiastic and understanding and though I wasn’t writing quite as quickly as before, I was doing it again. Then the publisher did some major downsizing. They rescinded the rights to the additional manuscripts they’d bought. No one was interested in buying paranormal anymore. I focused on a new project that my agent ended up not feeling strongly about. So I found myself repeating history , and though once again amicable, I split with my second agent. Keep Moving Forward: 5 Tips to Recover When We Reach a Dead End My RA continues to flare. I have three kids ages 18 to 5 and a workaholic husband and am constantly distracted. But instead of giving in this time, I have redoubled my efforts , and for the first time since the beginning, I feel that same drive to create and succeed. What happened? You’ve made it this far, so you deserve the answer! Here are my five biggest go to’s when I get stuck — whether from life or writer’s block: Tip #1: Don’t Keep All Your Eggs in One Basket I always see a nearly insane attachment to one manuscript and the characters within. It’s natural and I’ve been there too — especially in the beginning! After all, we did create this amazing world and its inhabitants. The trouble is, if it’s not working for whatever reason and we’ve done everything we’re supposed to do, like critiques, queries, and even submissions after a million revisions, we stay hyper-focused on it. Instead, we need to already be working on another project. I like to have things in multiple stages at all times. For example, I published the first book in my new trilogy, and while I continue to market, I also am working hard on the second. I also have a separate manuscript that I’m querying around again. Why not do both? What do I have to lose by exploring multiple outlets and mediums? The same goes for you. This way when one thing isn’t working, you aren’t out of commission so to speak. Tip #2: Connect with Readers “ But I’m not published yet!” you say. Then publish on a platform like Wattpad or Swoonreads . My initial foray into Wattpad was intended as marketing for my first trilogy. I threw up a book that’s dear to my heart that was rejected by the larger publishers not for my writing or the characters, but mainly because they said it wasn’t marketable to teenage girls. I figured, why not? Winging It became a featured story on Wattpad, and I’ve had tens of thousands of votes (which are basically likes), hundreds of thousands of views, and the best part of all IMHO, hundreds of comments from actual readers — mostly teens — that make my heart sing. Whenever I get a rejection, I go there and read some of the comments telling me it’s a favorite book or that they laughed out loud and freaked out their parents at the dinner table, or that they have to have a sequel, or a million other great things. It reminds me why I do this and why I can’t stop even when it’s tough. Find a place to post some of your writing. Whether it’s a social platform like Wattpad or a personal blog, it’s a place for you to put yourself out there in a relatively risk-free environment. Tip #3: Forgive Yourself I’m no stranger to dieting, and I haven’t figured that one out yet — so if you have advice, feel free to let me know. But one thing I have learned is that it doesn’t make sense to eat a doughnut for breakfast then say “Well I messed up the whole thing” and go on to eat an entire cake for lunch instead of a salad. You follow? If you have a bad week and don’t get the word count in, don’t freak out. Just take a deep breath, tell yourself you needed that, and try again the next day. Any writing you do is better than doing nothing. Got it? This is important, so let me state it yet one more way: If you give up and write nothing, then you’ll never succeed. Keep the hope alive by forgiving yourself and trying again every single time. Tip #4: Don’t Isolate Yourself I don’t know what I’d do without my writer friends. Seriously. They get me and they always manage to re-inspire me when I’m having a bad time. On top of that, I joined RWA and am currently president of my local chapter! I love it! Not only have I met a ton of amazing writers, I’m learning again through our monthly speakers and meetings. It’s amazing, and I always leave reinvigorated and ready to work. My advice is to keep ties to whatever support you have , whether through social media, real life critique groups, or organizations like SCBWI or RWA. There are ones out there for practically every genre, so find the one that works for you. Tip #5: You’re Never Too Good to Start from the Beginning I decided to try self-publishing because I know so many amazing authors that are finding success that way. Another reason I did it was because I had control. If nothing is happening with my writing, I have no one to blame but myself. I can’t say, well, I’m waiting to hear back from agent X or Publisher Y. No. If I don’t get my next book up, then it’s on me. I like that. I work well under deadlines and love the creative control. But I didn’t fool myself either. I knew that I was no expert, and I know that my writing always has room to grow. So I did it again. I set out to treat this like a full time job and learn the business side of things. Naturally there are a million theories out there, but I read and listened and decided to test out what sounded right to me. If it doesn’t work, I will learn some more and try again. Things change rapidly in publishing on all ends, and we have to be open to learning and approaching everything with fresh eyes. It’s a little scary, yes. But it’s also kind of exciting!

Mystery still surrounds UFO over Oregon Posted on Tuesday, 21 November, 2017 | 7 comments Could the object have been a black project ? Image Credit: US Air Force / Kevin Robertson Back in October, aviation authorities investigated an unidentified aircraft flying over the West Coast. Reports state that on the afternoon of October 25th, airline pilots between Portland and Seattle were contacted by air traffic controllers to ask if they could help identify a mysterious object in the area. The UFO, which failed to respond to radio communications, was missing a traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) transponder and, even stranger still, did not show up on radar at all. It was described as being white in color and was spotted at an altitude of around 40,000 feet. Several pilots reported seeing it, however none were close enough to be able to identify what it was. In the end, Oregon Air National Guard F-15 fighters were sent up to intercept the object, however despite a thorough search of the area they failed to find any sign of it. Could some sort of classified aircraft or military drone account for the sightings that day ? As things stand, the origin and nature of the object continue to remain a total mystery. Interstellar visitor is red and very dark - Unexplained Mysteries

Interstellar visitor is red and very dark Posted on Tuesday, 21 November, 2017 | 81 comments The interstellar asteroid measures over 400 meters in length. Image Credit: ESO / M. Kornmesser An asteroid thought to have come from interstellar space is carrying organic carbon-based molecules. Named 'Oumuamua', the object, which was recently spotted hurtling past the Sun, is the first confirmed example of an asteroid originating from outside of our solar system. Now new observations from gound-based telescopes have revealed that this 400-meter long space rock is quite similar to comets and asteroids found closer to home, suggesting that similar planetary compositions may be common throughout the galaxy. The asteroid also appears to be extremely dark, absorbing 96% of all light, and exhibits a distinct red color indicative of organic carbon-based molecules - the building blocks of life. Astronomers now believe that interstellar visitors like this one could be quite numerous in our solar system with as many as 10,000 being situated closer to the Sun than Neptune. It is estimated that three of them enter the solar system and another three leave every single day. Source: The Guardian | Comments (81) Tags: Asteroid , Oumuamua

Interstellar Object Named but Shape and Source Still a Mystery

Google+ “A messenger from afar arriving first.” While “What the heck is THAT?” might have been the first name considered for it, the first known interstellar object to be identified has now officially been named ‘Oumuamua, a Hawaiian word meaning “a messenger from afar arriving first.” While that seems to be more appropriate at first glance, at second glance “Mysterious spinning cigar from parts unknown” might be more appropriate. New data released by the European Southern Observatory this week in the journal Nature sheds more light on the dark object discovered on October 19 by Rob Weryk, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy, using the Pan-STARRS1 telescope. “I’d never expected to find something like this.” On October 26th, Weryk and his fellow astronomers announced the discovery of A/2017 U1, along with the astonishing news that its behavior appeared to prove it was from outside of our solar system. While it was first believed to be a comet, subsequent analysis by the European Southern Observatory shows it’s behavior and composition to be more asteroidal. Asteroidal, yes, but its shape says cigar-ish. (ESO photo here ) “Light-curve observations indicate that the object has an extreme oblong shape, with a 10:1 axis ratio and a mean radius of 102±4 m, assuming an albedo of 0.04. Very few objects in our Solar System have such an extreme light curve.” For those unfamiliar with cigars ‘Oumuamua measures about 400 meters (1,300ft) long and 40 meters (130ft) wide, and spins rapidly like a spiraling football (American), making a complete rotation every seven hours. That shape and spin, along with its deep reddish color and carbon-based composition, make ‘Oumuamua one of the darkest space objects ever seen, absorbing 96% of the light that hits it. That lack of reflective light may be the reason why it’s the first interstellar object to be discovered. However, it’s probably not the only one. Another study , led by David Jewitt at the University of California Los Angeles, estimated there may be up to 10,000 of them just between Neptune and the Sun, making their way through to … where? Who knows? It might help if we knew where ‘Oumuamua came from, but all the announcement said was that it appeared to travel from the direction of the star Vega. The ESO shoots down that silly notion in a diplomatic and astronomical way: “However, even travelling at a breakneck speed of about 95 000 kilometres/hour, it took so long for the interstellar object to make the journey to our Solar System that Vega was not near that position when the asteroid was there about 300 000 years ago. `Oumuamua may well have been wandering through the Milky Way, unattached to any star system, for hundreds of millions of years before its chance encounter with the Solar System.” An unattached happy wanderer. Sounds like ‘Oumuamua is living the good life … spearing through space from star to star with no cares or responsibilities. Too bad we couldn’t have spent more time with it. In an interview in The Atlantic , Andy Rivkin, a planetary astronomer at Johns Hopkins University, puts it best: “Don’t be sad that it’s over. Be happy that you saw it. Because it is really amazing that we saw it.” In other words, val da ri. Daily 2 Cents: Phone Call From Hell - D.B. Cooper Letter Confirms FBI Cover-Up - Revelations From a Time Traveler?

Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Daily 2 Cents: Phone Call From Hell -- D.B. Cooper Letter Confirms FBI Cover-Up -- Revelations From a Time Traveler? Phone Call From Hell “I have an odd ghost story that plagued me for a little while. I had this friend. I knew him since we were little children but as we got older we grew apart. I got a job, but he became a drug dealer / gang banger who, as the stories go, left many dead bodies in his wake. As I said, we had grown apart. One day in my early 20's, I received a phone call at work informing me my former friend had died. His life had caught up to him and he had been murdered. I go back to work and think nothing more about it. Later that night, I get home, do my nightly routine, and go to sleep. Well, about 2:00 AM, I'm woken by a phone call. Nobody ever calls me that late so I know something is up. I answer the phone only to be greeted by the most hellish roar like high heavy wind and screams, terrible screams, then I hear my name being called begging me for help. "Please God, I need help! It hurts! I don't know where I am." The voice sounds like it's coming through a tunnel, like it's so far away. In a panic I ask, "Who is this? Where are you?" The man answered, "This is Brandon..." My friend who had died. Then the line goes dead. This happened three times that week. I can't help but wonder, did my former friend call me from Hell?" The entity ran below a street light, but had no reflection - like phantablack (I think that’s how you spell it) color. I expected to see a rippling of clothing, but I couldn’t see any clothing bulges. Imagine the male figure on bathroom signs - that is essentially what it looked like as it ran across the road. It also had bad running form - instead of keeping the arms tight and proper, this entity kind of flailed it’s arms about as it ran. Ihe arm motions were certainly exaggerated. As I approached the area, I hyped myself up and passed the cross section of road, but there was no one in sight. - MUFON Revelations From a Time Traveler? In a video broadcast on the YouTube channel Paranormal Elite, Noah –who did not disclose his last name – claims that he risked his life to travel back in time to warn people that the technology exists. The so-call time traveller said: “I am not attempting to deceive anyone, my sole objective is to prove to you that time travel exists and that I, myself, am a time traveller.“First of all, time travel became possible in the year 2003, it is only used by top-secret organisations. The ability to time travel will not be released to the public until 2028.” Noah claims that because of his years of time travel, he is suffering from anorexia and depression. He said that he has taken drugs to bring back his youthful looks but insists that he is 50 years-of-age. Read more / video at Proof of time travel? 'Futuristic' man ‘from 2028’ issues chilling warning in video clip D.B. Cooper Letter Confirms FBI Cover-Up It's the case that won't go away. The only unsolved case of skyjacking in U.S. history remains unsolved, but a team of investigators is confident it has identified the culprit, his co-conspirators, and new evidence covered up by the FBI for 46 years. A 40-member cold-case team led by filmmaker and author Tom Colbert has pursued the case for several years, and after a recent suit to obtain public records, Colbert's team got its hands on a letter allegedly sent by Cooper to The Seattle Times and other newspapers in the weeks following the incident. The letter confirms the team's suspect is correct and that the FBI has worked to hide the evidence for decades, Colbert told SeattlePI: "This letter proves to me that there's been a cover-up and continues to be a cover-up on this case." Colbert's team, comprised of former law enforcement officers and several former FBI agents, previously identified Robert W. Rackstraw, a 74-year-old Vietnam veteran now living in San Diego, as the man they believe to be Cooper. Rackstraw was a suspect for the hijacking in the late 1970s, but formal charges were never pursued. Reached by phone on Wednesday, Rackstraw had little to say about the allegations, other than to suggest the reporter verify Colbert's claims. Read more at Investigators: D.B. The Wonder of the Ancient Derinkuyu Underground City

21 November 2017 23:16  Facebook 0  Twitter 0 0 0 0 Imagine you decide to expand your home basement and during the process of knocking down a wall you unearth a long-forgotten chamber. That’s exactly what happened in 1963, when a Turkish man began demolition. To the man’s surprise, the hidden room led to a massive 18-story underground city (1). Derinkuyu Unearthed The discovery of the ancient city of Derinkuyu buried nearly 200 feet deep revealed a network of tunnels, steps and rooms. It’s estimated that the city was capable of housing 20,000 people. The amazing city contains a network of “kitchens, stables, churches, tombs, wells, communal rooms and schools.” The masterminds behind the creation of this underground city is unclear since it’s impossible to carbon date the carved-out city (2). One insight to when it might have been used last came as the result of the “Greek inscriptions” that were clearly “added to the ancient city” and cave-like chapels used for churches. Based on these markings and some artifacts, experts surmise the city was used during the Byzantine era in 780-1180AD. Archeologists speculate that the city was used during the Arab–Byzantine wars as a safe haven for the residents living above ground. Unique Features of the Underground City The Cappadocia region has long been a World Heritage site. Known for its unique rock formations fairy chimneys, these volcanic formed conical spires were carved into dwellings. Derinkuyu, like smaller underground cities in the vicinity is carved out of tuff. This is a type of rock that is composed of hardened volcanic ash. Tuff is a porous, malleable and light rock, making it easier to carve out an underground city than other forms of rock. Some of the features found in this underground city include a massive ventilation system that delivers air all the way to the very bottom chambers. Huge round stone doors that can only be closed from the inside can seal off the city. Each round door has a small round hole in the center. Some speculate this was a peep hole or used to shoot arrows at attackers (3). Each story features these heavy inside-only-controlled doors and can seal itself off from the rest of the city. Nearly 600 entrances afforded topside dwellers access into the underground city. One unique feature in the city is a “barrel vaulted ceiling” with a series of room formed along the left side. Archeologists believe this was at one time used as a religious school (4). Water channels and air shafts delivered these vital elements to the entire underground city. The temperature of the city is a consistent 55° Fahrenheit. The climate of the underground city was ideal for storing produce and it’s speculated that the network was often used to store grains and perishables. 200 Underground Cities Connected to Each Other According to History.com, the region where Derinkuyu is located, Cappadocia, holds a mysterious underground network of 200 similar cities, most much smaller than Derinkuyu. Many of the smaller cities feature two or three stories only. These underground cities are interconnected through an underground tunnel network that is several miles in length. Notably, Derinkuyu is connected to several underground cities in the nearby Nevşehir Province. This connecting tunnel is an amazing five miles long. Ongoing Excavations In 2015, National Geographic featured the discovery of what’s known as the underground city of Cappadocia. Like Derinkuyu, it features an entire self-sustaining system for a large population. It’s estimated that once fully excavated the city will surpass Derinkuyu in size (5). The city is over 371 miles deep and considered to be about one-third larger than Derinkuyu. References & Image Credits:
