The story begins with the princess Asa Vajda and her lover Javuto being sentenced to death for the practice of sorcery by Asa’s brother. Before being burned at the stake, Asa vows her revenge. Nearly two centuries later, she is accidently revived when two passing travellers, Dr. Thomas Kruvajan and his assistant, Dr. Andre Gorobec, stumble upon her crypt. Determined to have her revenge, Aja will stop at nothing, putting her descendant, a young woman named Katia into mortal danger.
The Descent What started off as a friendly camping trip ends horrifically for a group of friends. When Sarah, Holly, Juno and Beth go on a camping trip, they each arrive with different motives, while Sarah seems cold and distant after her husband’s and daughter’s death, Juno is determined to mend their relationship. Things take a turn for the worse when they take an unknown path while exploring the caves. While this results in personal tension between the group, there is a much larger threat lurking deep within, that begins to take them out one by one.
Ringu The movie responsible for the horror cult fav, The Ring, Ringu is where the magic all began. The story is nearly the same, with a mysterious tape that threatens to kill anyone who views it within seven days. So when reporter Reiko Asakawa stumbles upon the mystery and the deaths revolving it, she is roped into a never ending cycle of death. The only way she can end this is by breaking the curse. But now, she has only seven days to do so, before she can meet her own inevitable end.
The Orphanage The Orphanage is a hauntingly beautiful story, all wrapped in horror elements. The story follows Laura, an orphan who is adopted and given a chance at a happy life. Years later, she returns to her old depilated orphanage with her husband and her own adopted son, in order to restore and reopen it. Things take a turn for the worse, when Simon, Laura’s son begins speaking of an imaginary friend. With a sinister spirit lurking, will the family survive against the odds?
Train to Busan When a divorced, single father and his daughter decide to take a train to Busan to meet her mother, little do they know about the terror that awaits them. As a zombie outbreak takes over the city, it is upto the few train survivors to make their way safely to a quarantined zone. But before they know it, a zombie finds its way onto the train, take them out one by one.
Let the Right One In If you have a thing for sick twisted romances, then we’ve got just the one. Let the Right One In follows the story of two young teens, Oskar and Eli. While Oskar is bullied and troubled endlessly at school, he finds solace with Eli, his neighbour, who is shrouded in an air of mystery. With strange murders taking place, Oskar soon finds that Eli isn’t a normal girl, but a vampire. However the moral question of destroying her never plays on his mind, because not only is he in love with her, but is slowly falling in love with murdering his bullies too.
Get Out A twisted American horror story, Get Out is one of the highest grossing horror movies of 2017. And it’s not hard to see why. When Chris decides to meet his white girlfriend Rose’s parents, he can’t help but he apprehensive about the whole situation. Things don’t seem to get any better once he reaches her home, with an overall shortage of black people and strange demeanour of those around them. It doesn’t take him along to uncover the fact that this town harbours a lot more than it let’s on.
Halloween The original cult classic gave the world two things – slasher films and Mike Myers . When a 6 year year old Micheal Myers stabs his older sister to death, his fate is sealed, and he lives his life in a mental institution. At the age of 21, on the way to his court hearing that will determine the final outcome in his case, Myers manages to escape, making a beeline for his old hometown. With the next day being Halloween, Myers stalks and his target set on a young teenager named Laurie, who has no idea about the hell in store for her.
Psycho A classic murder thriller, the movie is as literal as its name. Marion Crane embezzles her work place, in order to help her boyfriend get out of his debt. On the way to meet him, she stops by a motel, where she meets Norman Bates, the owner. While they spend a lovely evening , Marion meets her untimely death at the hands of Norman’s mother, who will not have another woman in her house. When Lila, Marion’s sister comes looking for her, she stumbles upon a startling truth – Mrs. Bates, Norman’s mother, has been dead for over 10 years.
The Witch If you’re in the mood for something dark and sinister, give The Witch a watch. The story follows the lives of a young girl Thomasin and her family, who has banished from a Puritan plantation. Their lives are instantly disrupted when her youngest brother is kidnapped by a witch that roams the forest. What follows is a strange series of death, as Thomasin loses members of her family, as the witches hunt them down one by one, except her.
