The service will be backed by Mphasis, a cloud and cognitive services provider, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. With a focus to address the daily transportation requirements of senior citizens and individuals with accessibility needs, riders can request uberASSIST rides starting today and will also be able to book uberACCESS rides which will include the forward-facing wheelchair accessible product, on-demand, said Uber. The driver partners involved in the service will be trained and services by Diversity and Equal Opportunity Centre (DEOC). ''All driver-partners are equipped with required skills to assist passengers with accessibility needs as well as those who need additional assistance during their ride,'' said Uber. "At Uber, we believe in creating transportation options that fit every rider's need. The launch of uberASSIST and uberACCESS furthers our efforts in this direction....We aim to make these services available in more cities across the country," said Amit Jain, President, Uber India and South Asia, uberACCESS offers 50 retrofitted vehicles, with heightened roof as well as hydraulic wheelchair lift on-demand while uberASSIST is an option for those who are seeking additional assistance and boasts of a fleet of over 500 vehicles to incorporate foldable wheelchairs. Uber, a couple of days back also unveiled new features in South Africa, enabling their driver partners in the country to choose when, where and how they drive. The company has about 12000 drivers in the country. Drivers will now be able to decide the time at which they want to arrive at their final destination at any given time of the day with the "arrival time" feature. As drivers go about their day with the destination and arrival time set, the app will notify them when it's time to start heading toward their destination. At that time, they'll be connected with a trip along the same path. This allows for more flexibility and allows them to make extra money on the way, sa id Uber. Uber India is also offering attractive salary packages to engineering graduates with an annual CTC of INR 36.6 lakh for software developers. Rimit
